Ray Holland has been designing and installing decorative concrete sin 1998. In 2006, he founded UniqueCrete and has quickly become the choice of many top East Texas builders including Jason Vander Vorste.

Decorative concrete changes dull gray concrete into a beautiful part of an outdoor landscape or indoor design. It is cost-effective, durable and requires little maintenance. UniqueCrete approaches each home from an artistic point of view.

UniqueCrete created several beautiful features for this edition of the How-to House. They stained and scored the rear patio with a vintage umber border and cola-colored main floor with a glossy finish that is easy to maintain. Ray and his staff first cleaned and prepared the concrete. They scored the border with a concrete saw and applied the two stains. The floor was then cleaned again and then sealed with a UV protective sealer.

The fireplace mantle in the living room is solid concrete. The mantle is four inches thick and fifteen feet long and done in rich terra cotta. The mantle was hand-poured offsite in a special mold then installed in the house. It weighs over 700 pounds.

The guest bathroom vanity top is custom-sized and hand-poured to match an existing wrought iron frame. It is wine colored with a decorative rope design that was specially molded, antiqued and sealed with an epoxy sealer.

The driveway and entry walkway are finished in a light cola stain with UV protectant and a slip-resistant additive that also protects from oil and other stains.
