Most of the homes in this part of the world have exterior walls of brick. The 2008 Al Carrell How-to House is different. It has the classic old-world look of stucco.
But not just any stucco. Builder Jason Vander Vorste chose Cooper Plastering to create the old-world look with modern materials and techniques.
The exterior finish on the How-to House is Tuscan Stucco manufactured by TEIFS. TEIFS Tuscan Stucco is a decorative, multi-effect, versatile acrylic plaster. It is a tintable, sandable, white-based plaster for use on exterior or interior surfaces to obtain a variety of textures including stone-suede.
To successfully complete the exterior walls of the How-to House, Cooper Plastering installed 30-lb. felt paper over the Tyvek® Homewrap to create a secondary moisture barrier.
Following the installation of the expanded metal lath and trim, a pre-packaged TXI combination of Portland cement, masonry cement and chopped fiberglass was used to create the scratch and brown coat. This ensures a consistent and durable product throughout the exterior wall.
Cooper Plastering brings to the How-to House an impressive resume. They have recently completed projects on five campuses for the Tyler Independent School District, the Brookhill School lower gym and Humanities Building and the Louise H. and Joseph Z. Ornelas Residential Complex at Tyler Junior College.
Cooper Plastering is bondable and insured. They are a Certified EIFS Smart Contractor and are members of the Texas Lath and Plastering Contractors Association, the Association of Wall and Ceiling Industry and the Tyler Chamber of Commerce.
