One of the most important aspects of any home is the choice of flooring in each room. Floors serve a very utilitarian purpose, of course. But they are also central to the design and feel of each room. That's why builder Jason Vander Vorste chose East Texas Flooring Gallery to carry out the design and execution of the floors.
The front entry is covered in 9” X 18” Brazilian Black slate installed in a brick joint fashion. As you enter note that most of the 1st level flooring is very special “reclaimed” American elm stained in chestnut with a durable satin finish.
The powder bath near the office has flooring of Indigo Steel porcelain tile paired with a sleek interlocking porcelain mosaic tile backsplash with matching hand cut trim.
The master bathroom flooring is laid using natural travertine stone in Cafe Tuaca featuring a chipped edge and installed in the Versailles pattern. The master shower is wrapped completely in natural stone accented by various sizes of Bandar tumbled slate and a stacked slate mosaic which is carried out to the tub surround and “his and hers” vanities.
A common theme can be found in the glazed and unglazed ceramics used as kitchen backsplash, game room countertops and backsplash, utility room countertops and backsplash, as well as wine storage backsplash and the outdoor fireplace surround. These areas are layered in Olde California hand made tile unique in every way. Dotted with hand painted decorative tiles and wrapped in matching trim each area was carefully designed and installed to be unmatched.
The utility room floor repeats the natural Versailles pattern travertine found elsewhere, only this time the color is Cafe Khalua.
The flooring at the 2nd floor hall, bath and balcony are unique 12” X 18” Italian porcelain known as Carnica in a soft blend of color tones. The accent work at the 2nd floor hall bath is again natural stone. Champagne gold is the color choice for solid split-face travertine mosaic and matching chair rail trim. The 2nd floor guest bath is comprised of classic Durango travertine in a variety of sizes and shapes.
Small details include the pop-up island at the kitchen and the bar area backsplash which have been accented in tiny Mayan Black marble mosaic.
Carpeting, although minimal, should not be overlooked. The master bedroom offers a granola colored floral pattern constructed in the classic cut and loop style, the game room
