Lighting is the first thing you see when entering a home. And too often, it is an afterthought to the overall design scheme. But not
when we build an Al Carrell How-to House.
Again this year, Jason Vander Vorste chose the Gallery of Lights to provide the fixtures and design expertise to make the lighting in
the Al Carrell How-to House the very best it can be. This is the fourth consecutive year Gallery of Lights has been chosen.
In the foyer (2), the hand-carved
appearance of the inverted pendant displays a stylish transition from casual to elegant. The exquisite scavo textured glass, subtle rolling
scroll work and the driftwood finish sets a tone of warmth and charm to welcome family and friends.
The entrance to the dining room reveals a Country French chandelier that is
intricately carved to recall the work of the Old World Masters. The iron accents, driftwood finish and hand-antiqued glass shades add
elegance for formal entertaining.
Upon entering the breakfast and kitchen areas (2), the lighting changes to a more relaxed mood while retaining a sense of elegance. The tortoise shell finish is a
perfect compliment to the Neopolitan glass shades on the mini pendant lights. The inverted pendant in the breakfast area with iron detail,
together with the ceiling fan with “ambient up” lighting, adds the finishing touch to the gathering area.
The delicate iron tooling on the master suite fans and the intricate detailing on the
master vanity lights sets the stage for romance and sophistication.
Exterior lighting showcases the front porch as well as the garage and side porch. The bamboo ceiling fan on the back patio adds a
whimsical touch that is just right for entertaining. Nighttime illumination is also enhanced by the use of accent “up lighting”
that adds a nice dimension to the home’s exterior.
