How-to House, we turned to Tyler’s Home Depot to provide the framework for a creative expression that’s designed for several
lifetimes.
While lumber may look like lumber to the untrained eye, just like everything else, it comes in varying degrees of quality.
The bottom plates between the foundation and the studs consist of approximately 500 feet of treated yellow pine 2x4s and 2x6s. They
prevent rotting and are resistant to termites.
About 10,000 board feet of Spruce Pine fir is used in the framing of the How-to House. And the soffit and fascia on eves and overhangs
are produced using rustic trimmed Harditrim™ and Trim Craft™.
Covering it all is a roof consisting of approximately 230 bundles of GAF Timberline 30-year weathered wood and Sentinel 20-year weather
gray roofing shingles. These premium quality shingles feature a true laminated dimensional design for a distinctive wood shake look. This
roof is designed to withstand winds to 80 mph and is backed by a 30 year limited warranty.
