To accentuate the architectural design of the 2008 Al Carrell How-to House, a roof tile from Monier Lifetile was selected.
Manufactured in Katy, Texas, this roof system meets some of the requirements for Leeds Certification, making it a more “green” material than most of the competition.
To enhance the performance of the tile roof, the ‘Energy Efficient Roof’ system was employed. This system utilizes an elevated batten system, vented eave risers, the Figaroll ridge vent and light-colored, high profile tile.
This combination of products provides a 50 percent reduction in the amount of heat that penetrates the conditioned space of the home by allowing air to circulate through the increased sub-tile area, creating a thermal barrier against the hot Texas sun. Tests indicate that this system can produce a 22 percent reduction in energy consumption.
In addition to the energy savings, Monier Lifetile has many other compelling attributes. Not only are these roof tiles attractive, but they are efficient in noise reduction, have a superior resistance to wind, rain and hail, have a Class A fire rating and come with a limited, fully-transferable warranty.
